Importing a Defender into Canada - Land Rover Importing

Land Rover Defender

How the Basics work:

The law in Canada stipulates that you cannot Import a vehicle into Canada unless it is 15 Years or older. Any Land Rover manufactured 15 years ago or more is exempt from Canadian vehicle safety regulations, that would mean that the Defender does not have to have air bags, impact crash cones and all other safety aids found in modern vehicles sold in Canada. These upgrades if added to a newer Defender would make it unviable due to cost and availability of compatible parts.

Information about importing vehicles into Canada can be found by visiting the following websites: http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/pub/bsf5048-eng.html
